The new Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) takes effect for reporting periods starting on or after 1 January 2026. Understanding the changes – including the new three-tier reporting system –  is essential for all charities going forward.

Neal Trup is a Chartered Accountant and trainer with a specialist focus on community charities and social enterprises. He is a member of the Charities SORP Committee, where he holds particular responsibility for smaller charities.
