Arts & Culture Finance is now part of Figurative

About

We believe in the potential of cultural and creative organisations to benefit society, and connect them with the people, funds and resources they need to succeed.

Who We Are

We are an independent not-for-profit finding imaginative ways to grow the cultural and creative sectors’ financial resilience and social impact. We experiment with funding models and technologies, support organisations to explore new impact and business models and help them take creative risks.

Incorporating Arts & Culture Finance (formerly part of Nesta) and New Philanthropy for Arts & Culture, we are backed by major funders and have a proven track record of bringing new money and ideas to the sector.

Our Priorities

  • Impact

We believe in the power of the arts to deliver positive change for individuals, communities, society and the planet. We connect socially-engaged cultural organisations with appropriate funders, and work with them to develop robust impact measurement frameworks that capture the complex value of creative programmes.

  • Investment

We work with public, private and charitable funders to invest in UK-based cultural and creative organisations. We specialise in blended and repayable finance – funding mechanisms that are underexplored in the sector and that unlock much-needed capital from new sources.

  • Innovation

We understand the challenges and opportunities facing the cultural and creative sector, and collaborate with organisations on innovation and pilot programmes that test, evaluate, and refine promising solutions and ideas. We always share our learnings.

Our Vision

We want to see a thriving, inspiring cultural and creative sector generating far-reaching social and economic impact. A sector that is…

Valued

Funders, policymakers, and individuals recognise the impact of creative organisations and are invested in their activities – literally and figuratively.

Confident

Organisations have the capital and capacity to take risks, testing and evaluating ambitious ideas, building on their successes and learning from their failures.

Collaborative

Shared learning and cooperative action becomes the norm, so that everyone can benefit from new ideas and ways of working within the sector and beyond.

Connected

Organisations are embedded in their communities, with strong links into other sectors, and are supported by a global network of impact-driven cultural colleagues.

Our People

Our team combines extensive investment experience with deep knowledge and appreciation of art and culture.

An Impact-Based Approach

A commitment to social impact underpins all we do, from investments and programmes to research and advisory activities.

Organisation Support

We work with organisations with a clear social mission and demonstrable impact in their communities, to explore funding and business models that can support that work.

Responsible Finance

We partner with public, philanthropic and private funders to create new investment models that can maximise impact and align all parties behind shared social and environmental goals.

Impact Measurement

We help organisations develop their impact measurement and management practice, so we can all better understand, evidence and articulate the difference we make as a sector.

Systems Rethink

We empower organisations to rethink the way the sector operates, to ask challenging questions and to test out pioneering new ways of working that put impact at their heart.

Global Partners

We work with public, private and charitable funders to deliver shared impact goals.
